Edwin Vasquez

Edwin Vasquez is from Springfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from University of Massachusetts - Amherst and is a nursing resident in the emergency room. Working in the ER, Edwin is exposed to a more accurate and serious depiction of nursing than what the media portrays. One of the many important roles he has in the ER is to help the doctor refrain from making errors in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient. Edwin advocates for the use of interpreters in the ER to get the patient’s full and accurate story. He admits that his Spanish is not perfect, but realizes that his bilingual skills are necessary when trying to get to the root of a patient’s problem. Edwin’s biggest role model is his grandmother who wanted to be a nurse, but had to drop out of school to take care of her 15 brothers and sisters.
