Vanessa Sanchez

Vanessa Sanchez recently graduated from the nursing program at Charles R. Drew University. Growing up in South Gate, California, where there is a predominant Hispanic population, she witnessed the health disparities that her community faced due to lack of resources. For Vanessa, nursing is an opportunity to give back to more Hispanic communities in cities similar to South Gate. Vanessa also likes how nursing offers a vast amount of career opportunities, such as being an educator or a nurse practitioner. Vanessa’s role model is her mother, who raised her and her sister as a single parent. Vanessa hopes to work in a medical surgical unit, and eventually gain experience in an emergency room.
